Anyone planning on planting tomatoes in the smart pots?

Crestview, FL

I am thinking once fall/winter season ends I just might use those #10 and #15 smart pots for some tomatoes, they would be great for burying the stem routine, along with the grow bags of Boca Bob's just to see how they do. One plant per pot or bag of course. Has anyone done this yet?

I grew tomatoes in the 5gal. smart pot and they did alright. Maybe not as
big as in the EB but still very OK. So I would guess they would do really well
in one of the 10 gal. ones.

Annie: Thanks, what did you use as a medium, fertilizer and so forth? And how did you stake them?

I filled it with coir and used BocoBob's fertilizer. For support for all my
toms and peppers I use 6 ft. welded wire fencing wrapped around the pot.
Next time I will put fertilizer in the pot and cover it like you do for the
original EB kits. I just don't have the time or energy anymore to mix up
fertilizer everyday and put it on everything I have.

Annie: Thanks, that idea of your wrapping wire around the smart pot sounds like an excellent idea, I was wondering about that one and agree, I like to put the fertilizer in the medium rather than having to mix the fertilizer myself too.
