Well I really wouldn't know without seeing the one your talking about. I know it is pink but how purplish pink the one your tallkng about is I don't know. do you have a good pic of the one your talking about and I could tell you then if it is the same.

I have a whole tray of seeds that have sprouted and are growing well so far. If they do well I will let you know.

They are delosperma cooperi and are pictured below. The ones in the picture are 2 years old from seed.

Let me know what you think.

OH!! Yours are beautiful!! Mine are the color of the ones below. I don't know the species of the ones I have been sent (these like in the pic), but since I am just using them for myself to landscape around our new house, and not to trade, it doesn't matter.
Thanks!!
Are these the same color as yours?

Oh, this pic is from the DG files and not mine.

Yes, Debbie,

Mine are neon pink also. I started growing all kinds of ground covers from seed instead of using mulch in some of my gardens. It takes hundreds of plants to do this, so, naturally I start from seed instead of spending thousands to cover the beds.

They are so easy to grow from seed. I've finally invested in Park's Seed dome covered seed starter. It was a small investment compared to the success I've had with so many plants that I did not have to buy.

I could only get a few of the yellow seeds, but I don't know how they are turning out yet. I put these seeds directly in the ground in spring and they have yet to flower. I'm hoping that they will be yellow.

Hi Debbie,
I have lots of yellow flowered iceplant. It grows like a weed around here and I have several small plants that I started this spring from cuttings. One neat thing about it is that it turns bright red in the winter.

How are the mints doing?

I think I bought the yellow at a nursery the other day along with the mesa verde. I will have to check when I get back to the house over here. (Currently at the library...no computer at our new house as we haven't moved in yet) Anyway, it was either red or yellow and I am thinking yellow.
The mints are doing great and when my daughter comes to visit in Sept. I will give them to her!!
Many thinks!!

Katlian,

Is yours the same yellow ice plant as shown in this picture?

Yep, same one. It turns green again once the temps warm up in the spring. It doesn't bloom as long as the pink (D. cooperi) and it's a bit lower and more compact too. I planted four small plants two years ago and now I have about 15 square feet of it. I had to trim it to keep it from covering my fancy rocks in the flower beds.

Speaking of rocks....at home we have river rocks all over the place "growing wild"! I went back to the nursery the other day because one of the Crapr Myrtles i bought as a dwarf red bloomed purple. while I was there exchanging it I thought I would check out the river rocks. 8.99 each!!! Yikes...guess it will be worth it to me to go collecting at home!

Yeah Debbie if you can get them for free do . I wish we could get the stone I have for free. It is laying around every where but in order to get it you have to get permission of the proprety owners and generally they won't let you have it, and if it is on state land your not allowed to pick it up. We have to buy all of ours, but am getting it at a good price.

We have the property although mostly hilly ...3 acres. Creek across the road with plenty of neighbors willing to let me have some!!
I just couldn't believe th price of a ROCK!!!

I know it is outrageous. We have what is called creek stone and it sells for 350.00 a ton. Thats what we have been buying but we have friends that have it on their property and we get it for 60.00 a ton.
