I just looked that plant up, pretty, but poisonous. Is that why they call it shoo fly? Because the plant knocks 'em dead?

i've had the seeds and flowers to the shoo fly flower for years and didn't know what it's name was?? one day this year i got a flower catalog in the mail and lo and behold there it was a picture of my flower!! i started out making my garden and getting a alot of hay from the barn and mixing it in the soil. the next thing i knew up came this big stalk looking thing, with the prettiest lavender demetasse flowers i had ever seen. and thats all folks :)
