dunlin & dowitcher? Not sure which is which.

Assuming the pic was taken in the UK I'd say a Little Stint and a Dunlin..if North America, then a Semipalmated sandpiper and a Dunlin...heaven help me if a little stint appeared in Newfoundland....I'd be up the creek in ID'ing it!

Congrats Todd!

Except it was taken in UK (Cresswell Pond, Northumberland, to be exact), and is a Semipalmated Sandpiper and a Dunlin ;-)

Now you know why I wasn't on the forum for most of today . . . it created quite a stir when it was found this morning, I got straight on the next bus to go for it. First Semi-p I've seen in my home county, and only the second ever in Northumbs (first was in 1992).

Congrats! Why not send us a Stint...any one would do! It's been nearly 2 years since I've seen a European shorebird on this side of the Atlantic (that was Northern Lapwing...VERY nice bird!)

Sanford, NC(Zone 7a)

Very cool Resin! :)

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Went up for another look today, nice eclectic mix with the Semipalmated Sandpiper, a Curlew Sandpiper, a Red Knot, 5 Ruff, and about 30 Dunlin.

Wow so close to home - I must get up to Cresswell sometime!

Yep, definitely!

Don't worry if you don't feel confident to identify it, there'll be plenty of other birders there to point it out (if it is still there, of course!).

Apparently it's been there 4 days now, but for the first two it was mistaken for a Little Stint.
