Father-in-law has some half runner beans planted and says about half of them are not getting round like they should...they're just sort of (the pod) staying flat. Any ideas why? Fertilization? Soil or other problems? ???

Some half runner cultivars are semi-flat. Probably the cultivar but need to know which one.
It seems like they have crossed with an Italian type.
