I have a begonia that is very old. I don't know what the name is but the leaves were green and burgandy. some of them are turning pale. Almost transparent. What could be wrong? it has sat in a east window since I got it. last winter.

Sounds like the older leaves are fading. If this is the case just remove them. If the whole plant is turning pale it could be for any number of reasons. Show a picture if you can so folks can have an idea on what they think might be the problem.
