Satellite Internet Service

This is VegLady's husband, Jack.

We live in a rural area and have an extremely slow dial-up connection. High speed internet is not available to us - local phone lines are antiquated and there are no plans to upgrade them. We normally run at 24.6 kbs (on a good day) and can't download anything but plain text.

We are considering Hughes satellite service. I have a million questions and am not having any success either with the local installer or on the Hughes website.

Does anyone here have Hughes? Are you happy with it? Know of any links that might answer my questions in simple terms - (they're all so technical, it's like a foreign language to me).
