I don't remember Where or from who last year I think at Gordons. It came thru the winter just fine, I thought it was one of the Phlox,s that I brought home.
Well it bloomed and is over 5' tall.
Any Clue???? Nice to know what it is and where to put it, before I can't move it LOL

I'm thinking it's a type of 'helianthus' sunflower. Maybe? I have a Helianthus 'Summer Sun' that looks similar. Very pretty. I like the 'daisylike' flowers.

But are not sunflowers a annual???

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

There are some that are perennial. I dug mine up from a friend's garden in Michigan and they come back every year. They are so cheery.

I really like it, but I can't leave it where it is. I did not know there where Per. sunflowers LOL
Need to look it up, now that I know what it could be. Not saying that is not LOL
You got a pic of yours ????

I would guess sunflower too by the looks of it. It is very pretty, but 5 foot in the wrong spot can definitely be a problem!

I put it there as I was not sure where to go with it back then. As I was not doing veggies this year and did not think it would make it over the winter not knowing what it was. But O'My its big and beautiful and in the veggie bed with I forgot how many Irises which I can move easy. But the stalks on this thing are over a inch thick, hate to see the roots. Must love old horse poop. LOL Ooo what to do, have to wait till fall I guess to move it, hate to lose it. But where to but it, now that is the big Pic. Sometimes I hate my place LOL

Helianthus Lemon Queen - I have lots of this. Tall, bright, long flowering, bees like it, Fun stuff.
I'll be dividing if anyone wants some. Grows to 6-7' x 4'. Easy - low maintenance. Unless it rains hard & then it will love some staking.

Helianthus Lemon Queen is a perennial!!! I never realized! Thank you Katye. Nice plant. Well done Tills.

(I was going to guess one of the rudebeckias).

you're on my list, Lynn!

Katye, if it would survive in a pot for a little while, I would love some too... got to build another bed!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Hi Pony - in a LARGE pot but not for long. Do you want me to divide some for you in the Spring? would that give you time for building your bed?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I plan on getting it built in plenty of time for my fall bulb planting, so it would be a few weeks at most. I could try to fit it into the big bed temporarily if that's too long. Hmm... I was going to pull out the geraniums that are in there anyway... that would make room. Yeah, go ahead and bring me some, please. :)
