I totally forgot to stop by when I first started posting here.
My real name is Diana and I'm a graphic artist for a local newspaper in Northern New York (think waaaaaaaaaay up, past Rochester...) - also a refugee from GW.
I bought a house a few years ago - It's very small and cottage-y looking, and I'm hoping to enhance that with some flower beds. If I could do half of what I've seen posted on the photos forum, I'd have the nicest house on the street. You guys are amazing!
I haven't got much of a flower garden going yet, some pathetic cosmos, lambs ears and hostas from my stepmother, yarrow that was threatening to choke out the house when I bought it. Tons of pansies and bee balm. That's about it. My big success this year was with the garden-in a-bag from Miracle Gro. Perfect thing for a beginner like me. Sadly, the only things I can recognize are some california poppies and bachelors buttons.
But we get long winters here in NNY, and that'll give me plenty of time to read and research, and ask all sorts of silly questions here.
I also tried a small veggie garden this year, which my ducks enjoyed thoroughly. Only the carrots and tomatoes survived, and then my dogs developed a craving for carrots and dug them all up. Which left me with many many many many tomatoes. And I only had three plants. lol.
In my spare time, I quilt, "play" with my houseplants, and tinker around with my 'baby', my 87 camaro. I hunt on ocassion, and I raised cocker spaniels until my son was born a year and a half ago, but I've still got a few dogs. I really miss the chorus of puppy barks. And there aint' nuthin' sweeter than a pile of sleeping pups. : )
Dear SO and I are hoping to train some dogs for sledding. We are hoping to get a place out in the sticks soon, as our little house seems to be bursting already.
I love reading all the posts here, and I enjoy being able to speak my mind and not being sent on vacation for it. This is a great place to call 'home' and I'm very happy to be here!
I never properly introduced myself...
