I went up to the Gila Wilderness (Sierra County, New Mexico) today - elevation between 5100 and 5500 feet most likely. I went down into a canyon that had a stream and this bird gave me a good scolding before it flew off. I remember a more rufous coloring than in this photo. Spotted near the start of my day up there and my memory could be faulty.

The one I saw in Mexico scolded me as well ;-)
They seem to be very noisy birds!
