I have what is probably the oldest living rooster! He is so frail that he now resides in the garage.
Roosterman
How old is he?
he's between 11 and 12yrs old
Awwwwwwww that is so sweet!
I've read that no one knows how long chickens can live--because they almost always die from something other than old age...but now we know that they CAN live to be 11 or 12. Go Roosterman!
Oh!Thank you for that information, that was one of my questions a few months back, you must have taken very good care of him.Does he seem lonesome being alone?
Wow, he is a pretty roo with those white feathers, or were they darker and turned white from old age? LOL
That is what we hope for ours, that they live a good long time. There are a few that my kids would be very very upset if they died, they are pets and part of the family. So far our oldest are only a little over 3 years old.
He has been alone so long that I don't think he knows any different. He is a white peacomb leghorn-always white. If you can protect them from predators and disease they will live a long time. All of his hens died of some illness when they were young. He didn't get it though. Good genes I guess.
