Me again! Brugs, no seeds

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I grew my first brug(plain ole vanilla/white) from cutting last year. It got to be about 5 ft. tall this year and bloomed like crazy but made no seeds. I've brought it in for fall now it's dropped most of it's leaves and looks plumb nekkid. Is it too late to do cuttings and if not,how far back can I cut it so it'll bush out better?

Bigred,
I have pieces of Brugmansia I have left on the ground that have rooted without any soil being placed on them. I have a few pieces right now that have sent roots down in to the ground that I need to erradicate. Many Brugmanisa can literally be chopped into segments and simply left on the ground to root if they are hardwood segments. Some cultivars are a bit harder to root. Try it and you will see as Sam I am once said. As far as how far back you can cut them. You can cut them clear back to the ground. Just picked my first seedpod off of my Butterfly today as the peduncle was turning yellow for the last two days and the seedpod finally got soft enough to pull today yielding me just 32 seeds. Crossed that with the Isabella of course so I can get more seeds and more flare etc from my next cross as the aurea hybrids just don't put out enough seeds. Generally speaking though, crossing back to an aurea should give me some very aurea looking hybrids.....Boy, do I ramble too much. Good luck with your Brugmansia.

bigred, did you hand pollinate it? brugs are one of those plants that like for you to be involved:)

Thanks guys for the info. This brug is easy to do from cuttings. A limb out of a pine tree fell on it , broke a small side branch off so I stuck it in the soil on the propagation bench and it rooted right away.

tiG,
No I haven't tried hand polination...I just let it do it's own thing. It's sitting in the master bathroom right now...nekkid as a picked bird's butt w/ one new flower bud so now I can't chop it back.

Brugmansia,
That's right tease us that have only one plain vanilla brug...*G*
