Another Mystery Plant (at least to me)

Newport, OR

There are a couple of these shrubs in our new yard - almost through blooming now. One is in very bad shape, the other is better but obviously has issues. Beautiful, but I haven't a clue about their needs. I think I'm going to lose the one in the front yard if I don't do something soon. They are currently about 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall and about the same in width. Thanks in advance - you have all been so helpful and I only have about 6 or 7 more plants I need help with. Doh...

Hi this looks like a spirea....very tough little shrub. good luck!

yep, a spirea. A relatively hardy and easy shrublike plant.

Could be a drawf "Pink Princess" at that height. They need afternoon shade and a good pruning after flowering. Dig up the one that looks like it's dying and see what the roots look like. Move it if you can, water and mulch well with compost. Give it a lite pruning and wait until next spring to see what happens.

Thanks again. My next one has not bloomed since we moved in here in June, and since I found a much smaller one just outside our fence, I suspect this may be a volunteer. Currently about 1 1/2 feet tall. It is a very attractive plant, but I want to replace it if it an undesirable - I already have plenty of those. Neysa
