Anyone have a bog garden and care to share tips on how to grow VFT, sundews and pitcher plants here in TX.
Help growing CP's outdoors in TX
I took down the bog garden about 2 years ago, but I had it in a children's plastic sand box...you know the green turtle kind...we saved the lid and did use it a couple of winters when it got a little too nippy for the pitcher plants. I had two holes drilled in the bottom of the 'turtle' then grit and sand on the bottom layer. The top was good soil with the bog plants....It worked very well until the plastic started to give out after about 12 years in the sun here...that's when I dismantled...I paid $5 for the turtle 15 years ago and I saw one in Wallyworld the other day for $50...I did put rocks around the base to disguise the original form and for the most part, it looked like a raised bog area....if I were to do it over...I would probably use a more traditional method.
