A friend of mine is visiting southwest Florida, Gulf Coast.... and sees these birds in the grocery store parking lot. At first he thought they looked like Roadrunners but then closer, no...... someone local said something like Sand Heron but they look like some kind of crow or raven to me.

Oh my goodness, yes, I forgot totally about Grackles! Used to have them when I lived on the southeast coast, hmmmm.

Editing to say, googled it and according to this map, Florida is not habitat for this bird. Perhaps it is another kind of grackle.....

Female Boat-tailed Grackle..our version of the Great-tailed. Boat-tailed is smaller but otherwise very similar.
