Information and Experiences with Tramadol

Hempstead, TX(Zone 8a)

My little 16 yr old Chi, Huberta has arthritis in her back. Within the last week she began groaning/crying and was having difficulty walking. She is elderly and does have a dislocated knee, but she has always been active. I took her to the vet and he prescribed tramadol - she can take it as needed 1 to 4 times a day. Each "chewie" (the drug was compounded) is 6mg.

All of my research has shown tramadol to be a good choice - it is a non-addictive pain reliever, side effects are few, and as she is also taking denamarin, the two drugs can be given together.

I would appreciate information/experiences others have had with tramadol. As well, is there something else I can do to help alleviate her pain?

Thanks in advance for your help.
