Peakaboo, Jon, she is back & different again. Think this was $10. well spent as I have a different plant every time she blooms. Really do like this one.

Painted Lady doing her thing....again.
It's a nice one. I can think of a couple other ones in those color tones that have blooms that vary quite a bit (Veronika Todd & Berried Treasure).
I am curious where you got that Painted Lady? That does not appear to be the typical, oldie but goodie PL.

The top photo in PlantFiles must have been taken with a flash because the other pictures more closely reflect the normal rosy pink coloration on her. Painted Lady had been around for years and has a simple flower. You plant, with the color variation and ruffles is certainly a more modern hybrid.
Thanks very much Ardesia for your help. When I 1st bought this plant at Lowe's the tag said PL but the bloom looked like the one I posted on 7-29. Wilfred was the 1st to tell me about PL. Look at the post on 7-30, 8-2 & 8-11. I honestly did not look at the picture on the tag until everyone was kind enough to tell me it was incorrect. Loved the 1st bloom so much I even went back to Lowe's & was going to buy more but they all said PL too. No telling what they might have looked like when they bloomed but I just thought I already had PL & didn't need another. In reality I have several PL that I bought when I 1st got interested in Hibs. Didn't know what a CV was until I joined DG 2 mos ago. So when I saw that bloom I thought PL was a CV & I would finally have something neat enough to show on DG.
Live & learn & this is a fantastic place to learn as everyone has been so nice & helpful. This is one plant that keeps me guessing. Thanks again.

Someone told me last night that PL was very good to have because it made wonderful CV stock to cross with other varieties. Have you tried to do that yet? My 1st try was not successful & then I read the temp should be 60-80 F which mine exceeded by 25 F. So will attempt it again when & if it cools down here. There is a whole new world to Hibs that I didn't know existed just 2 mos ago. But, I'm pedaling as fast as I can & maybe I'll catch up. Do feel like I learn something new every day. Have gone back to Lowe's several times but the other so called PLs were gone & I have not seen anything that interesting lately. Got White Wings last weekend under $2.00. Think thats a very old one too & I didn't have a white Hib. Your PL is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Like you I live in a hot spot and around here it usually stays hot until suddenly it is too cold so I have never tried to get seeds. Also has to so with my impatience. LOL So much easier for me to pick put pretties and buy them. You live in a great area to get good plants. For some unexplained reason the big box stores along much of the SE coast do not carry the pretty hybrids.
We get the the Yoder series of plants - Candy WInd, Trade Wind, Carolina Breeze, etc. and that is it.

Oh Judy I can so relate--I feel like I learn something new on this forum and everybody has been so nice, friendly, and informative. I just started getting into hibbies in March when a DG friend came down from Dallas and I took her plant shopping. She came specifically looking to replace some hibbies that she lost over winter. I bought my first two hibbies that day with her. Then I ordered five online for Mother's Day. I so love to check out the different blooms on each and can't wait to see their colors as the temp's start cooling down. I have several on my wish list too.
Love the lighter color pink your of your PL hibbie. Very pretty!
