Cool video X, I got them to feed out of my hand a couple of summers ago, but they wouldn't land. The females were more fearless than the males.

Wow! I'm going to have to try that! Looks like all you have there is a bottle cap and one of those little yellow things from a feeder!

Yep, that all it is. This was done in the first 6 weeks of the season, when there were a lot of hummers migrating through, so they were pretty hungry. I took down all the feeders, and then stood near the spot where one of them was. It didn't take them long to figure out what was in my hand.

I just took apart old feeders to get the yellow thingys. I'm going to give it whirl! I knew I saved the old ones for a reason!

Funny I couldn't access the video from the library.
Somehow it was classified as porn.
???

Thank you both. I appreciated the video (very nice!) and the idea for creating a hand feeder. I live in the PNW and only get the wintering Anna's Hummingbirds. Last winter was particularly nasty and I had to rig a light to keep the feeder from freezing while I was at work. This female sat on a branch all day everyday. I like to think I helped her survive. Most people around here don't realize that there are some species that don't migrate in the fall.
