I can't find the posts about garden toys so here goes.
I was on my way home from Washington...My dad had a massive stroke and I'd spent the week up there in ICU sad and well..sadder ....
.
Anyway..on the way home my sister and I stopped at one of those roadside rope-you-in with fruit, candy, nuts, trinkets....etc places because one time I got some really awesome goat soap at what I thought was that one but it turned out to be the next one down but they didn't have the soap anymore....whew.. breathe..
Really it was all my sister's fault that I bought the Eiffel Tower. She pointed and said.."Did you see THAT?"
So.. I bought a 3 1/2' wrought iron Eiffel Tower. Of course I had to run out the next day and buy it a clematis...but here it is before adornment....
Next post... The stage coach and horses..then the story about the attacking bird the flying corn and the casket.

My Strange Trip Home & New Garden Toys
So back on the road...My sister driving, who is TERRIFIED of BIRDS... One flew right into the window and then somehow stuck in the front grill..I was responsible for dead bird removal at the next stop which was McDonalds...Where we met the guy we'd been following towing this trailer.....
I had to ask him what the story was. He was a strange weathered desert rat lookin' kinda guy...
He said he bought some property in Idaho that he was really looking forward to retiring on...then some people set up a meth lab on it and he found out about that when it blew up and they notified him..
He was really mad and found out there were 5 more meth labs around there. He was headed over to blow them up...oh and the thing he was carrying on the trailer was empty..I did not ask to see..just if I could take a picture. (I kinda wanted it to make a flower bed but I dared not ask..) and I wanted to know what was up with the hot orange accenting...
After that we got stuck on a highway behind a horribly overloaded uncovered semi full of corn...in a windstorm...we were running over corn..corn was pelting our windshield..corn corn everywhere. Then two semis passing collided in front of us flinging mirror parts..
We were VERY glad to get HOME.

is that a for sale sign on the stagecoach?
Looks like vertical space for vines...How much did they want - or, did the sign just have a phone #?
Curious trip - one you'll not forget. Especially every time you eat corn...
*blink*
I think I want to go on a road trip with you. Mine are never that interesting.
Very sorry to hear about your Dad...
OK .. the horse & stagecoach is at the touristy trap in Ritzville, WA, which is at least in your state (Where they make you PUMP YOUR OWN GAS...) and yes. That is a FOR SALE sign on it...

Thank goodness for the photos. Otherwise one of might have needed to suggest this could have been one of those moments brought on by some of those experimentals that got passed around in our younger years.
Ginger, I'm so sorry about your dad. It must be a very tough time for you, though good that you and your sister were together for mutual support......and adventure. What a wild trip! I've been through Ritzville on road trips to and from the Midwest, but only stopped for ice cream and grocery shopping for lunch. We never saw a stagecoach complete with horses.
I once went to Ritzville to pick up 160 adult chickens. I got within a mile of the hatchery and almost got creamed by a train in the middle of nowhere that came out of a tunnel 100ft from the crossing that had no gates, warnings etc.....
That was a different wild trip. Hum,mmm.. I am sensing a common denominator.. RITZVILLE!!!

I am laughing so hard right now. I agree with 1pony, we all need to go on a road trip with you. I'll pump gas. I know how now, but in NJ we aren't allowed to pump our own either. Someone should have videoed my first experience. After reading the direction I was still clueless. Finally did get it, with help. (sigh)
Sorry about your Dad. glad you had your sister there as well.
I hope you and your sister have recovered from such an adventure. Sounds like something you will be talking about for years to come! So sorry about your Dad - it must have been a difficult week for you.
That guy from Idaho sounds quite scary.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Good thoughts sent your way.
Love your tower and the stagecoach. Wow.
What a scary adventure. Were you both laughing at everything that happened or was it scary?
We were kind of in awe.....

What a trip Ginger! Maybe he was going to retire permanently on his property in ID, hence the casket.
He implied that people who ran meth labs were going in there piece by piece....
I kinda like that idea but not as much as making it into a flower bed....
Ginger
Geeeezzz. What a guy.
