Very very cool! :-D Hopefully we'll get to see you again some time! ....Pat Moose on the head for me!! :)

Awwwwwwwww too cute!

The duck is an aconna. She was an unclaimed property at the feed store, so she came home to be a mate for Quackers the Pekin. He was abandoned in an apartment several years ago in the middle of winter. By the time they found him he had drank all the water from the toilet and been without food for several days. He weighed less than a pound when he came. He made up for lost time and now weighs about 11.

Sure theyere is room for anyone who wants to come as long as they are willing to weed!

{{Rocks are not simple things to be lent and used and disregarded...they take care and time and nurturing. And one has to find one's own}}

OT...sorry.

GEEK ALERT!!!

DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU HAVE EVER HAD THE URGE TO THROTTLE THE PASTY, UNCOORDINATED CLASS KNOW IT ALL DURING GYM CLASS.

Oh grow! I am crushed--perhaps I should switch from basalt to granite?

(See that is funny, because basalt is heavy and dense and forms the part of the earth's mantle that the lighter, granitic rocks float on in the form of continents....It's tectonic humour!...

.I don't know why I don't have more friends...:0()

lololol!!!!!! While you are welcome to visit my rock any time you should desire to do so, truly creating one's own grotto...is a labour of love...

The duck photo is adorable, and I love your flock of deer. Are they named?! So the ducklings are all cross breed Pekin Anconas? That should be neat to see how they look as they mature! Keep posting pics!!

Catscan - I too, was the pasty,uncoordinated know-it-all in my classes. And I hated gym. I hope that you are not "crushed" because you tried the basalt. Hahahahahahahahaaaaa.

Grow: I think you need to establish a class series.

lol....where's the 300 series? Although that's a beautiful start...

jylgaskin--I used to live in Michigan--in St. Joseph near Benton Harbor. Where is Williamsburg?

We moved to Michigan from CA when I was ten--it was a huge shock, but after Michigan, I never wanted to come back to CA....

Michigan, however, is not well know for its wide variety of rock types....I suppose one could rummage through the glacial moraines...

I am just outside of Traverse City, about three quarters up the state.

I just looked up Traverse City on Wikipedia and it talks about the cherry fesitval and vinyards....that is what I remember from my childhood in St Joseph. We were surrounded by sour cherry and apples orchards and Concord grape vinyards and could ride our horses everywhere. Every year there was a Blossom Parade and you could ice skate on the streets in the winter. It was a great place to be a kid.
