Newberry, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi all,
This is just sort of a last call for anyone interested in attending the 3rd Biannual Plant Trade Day here in Newberry, Florida. (20 miles west of Gainesville). It's September 29, at 1:00. We all have a great time and everyone is welcome. We all just bring whatever extra plants we have for trading, and we trade. Easy!
Send me an email if you need other information or are interested in attending.
I'm really looking forward to it!

I can't go, but as I am fixing to take some cuttings to send to Canada I will have some extra's to send out to others as well. I have a few very special cuttings for you guys...some are the only ones in existance ie my best hybrids and others are simply great hybrids like the Double Orange. A few nice pinks as well. Mz is has a greenhouse or someone down that way I am sure at anyrate for the more sensitive ones.

sigh**** seriously contemplating moving south. Just a thought, can't leave that precious granddaughter of mine. Oh well:)

Brugman, you should stop by, bring the little ones. Robin has a great place for a trade, huge oak trees to park under, huge greenhouse with plants i cannot pronounce the names of and plenty of room for the kids to run. Betcha you would even find plants you would like to take home!! If you take the first high springs exit i don't think it would take you but 30 minutes.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I actually got a map, am figuring times and then remembered, my son from Ohio is coming that weekend. But watch for me in the spring!!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi Tig,
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you to make it this time, but we will definitely look forward to you coming to the Spring trade!
Brugmansia,
Arlene is right, the kids would love to have some others they're age to play with, and I do have a large greenhouse with a big variety of plants. Hope you can make it!
BTW, it's only about 20 minutes out of High Springs.

HI Arlene and all,
Dad has agreed to be the great hotdog grill chef again. So yes, we will have hotdogs and all other kinds of yummy snacks I'm sure. Lots of people have said they are coming, so I am looking to have a great turnout. Weather looks like it may cooperate too, highs in low 80's with a bit of clouds. Hopefully the 3:00 rain will hold off till 3:00 ;O) or later. Greenhouse tours start at 2:30 or so.
Looking forward to it everyone.

Mz, Your welcome-unfortunately I can't acess my e-mail for some reason so I am trying to figure out another way for you to get your hybrids. I can send the hg and a few others to your house address right now, or if you would rather, I am cutting back my Hg a few feet, Isabella a few feet, double white a few feet, Insignis pink-20 or so feet, Milk and Honey 2 or so feet, versicolor alba a few feet, cypress gardens a few feet, Aurea pink a few feet, butterfly a few feet, etc etc. If you have a truck you could pick up some cuttings I am sure...but I am afraid as I have never given this much to any one person and I am not sure if you could handle them all. Also have a stunningly beautiful candida hybrid of mine that just bloomed. Solid pink-...thinking of naming it after one of my sons. Would be nice to get some more aurea hybrids in trade as that is what I prefer to hybridize with for the most part and I don't care if they are aurea's that I already have or how much as I realize how easy Brugmansia are to grow. Ahh, just planted my Butterfly x Isabella seeds after soaking for a few days ...don't know if I already posted this....ever the rambler. Sorry, just rereading this post and realized it sounded as if a trade was needed...this is not the case...if your willing to meet me then they are yours regardless as I can not get over what a wonderful deed you and the others have done for me. So sorry it came out that way and I am glad I caught it before anyone posted to this.
Almost forgot, 7 or so feet of Solid Gold as well. These are solid 1-2 inch wide hardwood cuttings. Versicolor peach as well....

Robin,

Thanks for the invite, but I will not attend this trade either.

Newberry, FL(Zone 9a)

What a shame.

I really do not want to get in the middle of anything here, and despise this public back-biting that is going on. However, I also have to say in all honesty, that Arlene has been nothing but very kind and generous to me and my Mom and has generously shared many many of her plants with us and many plants and cuttings from Brugman.

I think it's a shame anyone would stay away from the trade day because of anything posted here, UNLESS I posted something to offend you, which I hope I will never do, but you guys have to do what is right for you.

Take care all, and for heavan's sake, please think twice before making such flaming and hurtful posts. It really looks bad on the person who writes them in my opinion.

Peace and happy gardening all,
Robin

Hi Robin,

My reason for missing out is as I stated a few weeks ago http://davesgarden.com/showthread/88873.html , I do not have any rooted cuttings to bring to your trade. Also my wife is too busy, and will not be able to attend with me. May be next time.

Newberry, FL(Zone 9a)

HI Tim,
Thanks for writing. I feared the rather hostile atmosphere had run you off from the trade, and I would have hated for that to happen. I'm really glad that's not the case.
I plan to continue hosting swaps spring and fall so get those cuttings ready and plan to come. It really is just a lot of fun, and usually you get a lot of neat plants to boot!
You are still very welcome to come, even with no plants. I'm sure I have enough to share a few with people like yourself!
Otherwise, I will hope you will shoot for the spring trade probably to be held in May. Send me your email again and I will make a note of it and let you know when it's to be held in advance, and that goes for anybody interested in coming.
Happy Gardening All!
Robin
