driveway and culverts need ideas

cedar rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Having a hard time trying to decide how to do the ends of our driveway....The entrance is seen from the sides and goes down towards the house...and has very steep sides at the culvert area.. about a car length......Sorry I really don't have and pictures of it, (as I been spending money on flowers, and haven't replaced the camera yet. I have a picture that shows the new wall and beds that I have done on the one side of the drive...Wanting to make a GRAND entrance and be able to tie it all together..open for all ideas...the gravel along the drive is going to be the river rock, waitng for it to settle, before we add it..(.can't really see the end of the driveway at all.. ) thanks cindy

If anyone remembers last year at this time we were just moving into this house....and I was moving all my plants from the flooded house...Just digging and not knowing what I was digging and not knowing if anything would come back! Thanks to the DG FRIENDS and Friends I have FLOWERS!!! Thank-you

want2bee, are you asking for help for the area between the bush and the red car in the second photo? Because along the sides of the driveway already looks very good, I think that will fill in nicely. If you are looking for something to mark the entrance, I would think some sort of tall evergreen - boxwood or rhody, not so tall as to shade the garden, but just something on each side to mark the entrance. If you wanted something less formal, maybe a clump of some sort of billowing grass?

I think the large mass of "billowing grass" makes a lot of sense if the tree isn't throwing too much shade-maybe switch grass would work( takes part shade)-there are several nice varieties and it is native to Iowa!

I would swing one or both of the flower beds right around the mass to terminate the beds and solidify the corner. A trio of shrubs would work in with the mix if space permits-burning bush, palibin lilac, shrub roses, etc...

Thanks, for your input....I have planted some grasses and then some other flowers that blend with the beds at my front door and along the driveway.....Figured I'd try it, and if it doesn't work, I can start over with a new plan next spring....( also wanted to see how much snow and stuff my hubby will push around up there) so far everything has held in place, durning your 8" of rain two weeks ago.... thanks again..
