trying to get good pics of 'yellow' flowers

Windsor, CA(Zone 9b)

I have been working trying to adjust my camera so I get a good photo of yellow flowers. Mostly this has been with cactus flowers, but this yellow tuberous begonia has opened so I am working with the camera on it also. xuling

I might try using a different color backround. Just my opinion.. You have a light colored flower with a light colored backround.
I don't know what kind of camera you are using, but if it digital, you probably have lots of different settings.. and that's what I love about digital.. You can take a million pics, and delete what you don't like..
I also love picasa.com.. You can change the color slightly..
and what a lovely color I might add.. !

you are right about the back ground color. all i have to do is turn the pot a little, or move it temporarily. great and simple idea. xuling

You can always add in another background with photo editing as well. Select the yellow flower with a medium tolerance, copy, paste on a neutral background, and then change the background as need be or just paste the image on a background that you like.

To capture the true color you should use custom WB if your camera has this feature but typically the other preset WB work well if you select the right one. Shooting RAW is supposed to be the best way to go in regards to WB but the size of the files seems prohibitive to me.

that is very nice, but I just don't want to spend the time doing that. I spread myself too thin as it is. And I would never learn all the software necessary. Xuling
