Well it seems that giant lilies are not my only forte lol, look at this 6' dahlia. Think it will be yellow.

And I have seen big tomato plants, but this one is just one plant in the mid of my sun garden and it actually has 32 tomatoes on it and they are a good size. This is just one Steve picked up at Lowes, all of the others are dying at the bottom although they have maters on them, but I have never heard of one plant with such a huge crop. The tomatoes aren't small in size either and the plant is as healthy as any I have seen.
Hi Candee, your dahlia is a giant!! I haven't seen such a tall one and growing in a pot? Can't wait to see if it's yellow! might be white? lol.

There are 3 sunflowers in my patch that might be giants!!! the bamboo canes are 8ft tall.

These are record heights and all those maters? I guess this must be some fertile MD soil! The pot that holds that dahlia is only a 1gal container? Am sure it will be well rooted when it is time to pull them. Still can't tell the color, but won't be long!

I wonder if the Dahlia flowers will be smaller than usual putting all their energy into growing tall?
The tomatoes were not small you said, will you make soup or sauces with them?
Steve did a count and there are actually 34 tomatoes ripening on that one vine. Apparently there is a woman in Frederick who was in the paper yesterday with 30 tomatoes on one vine. So, I contacted our local paper and news with my 34 mater harvest and my 6' dahlia?

We freeze the tomatoes and use in sauces later. We use a lot of tomato based recipes and really go through a lot of them in a season. Tonight we will just enjoy some BLT's with some of my homemade tater salad from the garden potatoes.
I'll know about the size of the dahlias soon as they are ready to open. We are going down to the eastern shore on Thursday so hope they open before then.

Do you know what variety the tomato plant is?
I've never grown enough toms to freeze, fingers crossed I will have lots this year! Do you freeze the whole tomato or chop it up?

I don't know the variety. We peel ours and then quarter and then put in freezer bags. We do cook them down a bit then before adding anything else after they come out of the freezer.

The only giant I have is Miss Bruggy. She's right outside the sliding door so I can see her at all times!
No guess they aren't news worthy after all. I did take a pic of the dahlia now beginning to bloom, it is a lovely mellow yellow with a hint of orange splash, it is a beauty. Will post soon.

She is alot bigger this year and I need to water her.....she's wilting like mad!
