Collected seeds from this Hibiscus (ID)

Austin, TX

While visiting my sister up in Fort Worth I fell in LOVE with this beautiful plant. The plant appears to be a single stalk at the base...but this could be her pruning.I found two seed pods from her Hibiscus. I tried germinating 5 of the seeds and so far TWO have sprouted. (BTW, I used the baggie method and after two weeks, nothing..so I nicked the seeds and ...wahla! one day later 2 sprouts!) I understand that the babies may not resemble the mama.

Not sure where she purchased, but could have been Lowes, Home Depot or other garden center in the area. Wondering if anyone has an idea or guess at the exact variety???

Don't know what it is but it sure is a pretty color. After you nicked your seeds did you put them back in the baggie or potting soil? Good luck with your new offspring.

Judy...thanks for the reply. I nicked and put back in the baggie...once they sprouted I put them in potting soil. Hoping I don't kill them ;-)

...and Dave...thank you! the image you sent appears to match. I noticed that the foliage color on mine is quite dark green and lush...and your 'president' really seems to have that same attribute. The bloom color was actually much more red than the image I posted appears. I hope the babies look as beautiful as their mommy!
