dl's or iris and maybe daffs.
i don't want to trade till fall. if you are a northerner i can either send in the fall or next spring. right now i only want to discuss what you could trade. and i'll give you an idea of what dl's i have.
seeds are good too. we can both decide how to trade fairly as far as perennials for dl's. if it's an expensive dl i might want more plants. but if it's one i got for 3.00 in a sale then we would trade evenly.
any sun loving or drought tolerant plant is good. seedlings or small divisions are good for some things. but clumps are better. just lmk what you have to trade. the more unique a plant is though will draw my eye quicker. and i like red. but need all colors. i like thalictrum, salvias, certain yuccas, certain roses, coreopsis, echinacea, etc. etc. etc.
i posted this on the perennial forum first but have had no luck. the next place i post will be gw so come on and trade with me. lol.
want all kinds of sun lovin' perennials/shrubs for named
mama! where you been? i dont see you around like I used too! Missed you!!!
i'm too crazy to have many conversations going at once. i have 2 teenagers that hate me and plot against me so i have to minimize my dave time. lol.
now you did do me the favor of bumping this up but don't you want any dl's or iris? lol
well, i dont have anything at the moment to trade :( tho i could gladly root cuttings of buddleia and i do have to small rooted starts of Night Blooming jasmine if you are interested :)
also have two rooted cuttings of hibiscus, however im not sure if they are pink or red...lol.
well i will pass on those. i want some hibiscus but i want certain ones and i have a red one and a pink one already. lol.
I am currently growing 'Dragons Heart' hibiscus from seed...
what hibi's were you looking for?
only hardy ones. sure wish i could grow the trops.
well, if i should come across any, i will let ya know.. or anything else on your want list
well my want list is not current and what i am asking for now are plants like baptisia, indigofera, rudbeckias, coreopsis, sunflowers, guaillardias, thalictrum, and scads of other things that like sun and can tolerate heat.
lol, well, thats what i meant.. THIS want list. now about the sunflower... any particular one?
unique ones. tall or short.
also looking for plants that animals like...mostly birds, rabbits, the occ. rat. lol.
well, if i should come across any in my many seed catalogs, i will let ya know!
I have Maximillian Sunflower (perennial), Nepeta, Walker's Low and Six Hills Giant, Coronation Gold Yarrow, & Baby's Breath....could dig you some chamisa (rabbitbrush, I think). I am completely fine with NOIDS, but I like purples, rebloomers, evergreen. :-) I don't want them until the fall, but I'd have to send you these in early September if you're interested.
All are very established plants that I'd take some divisions from, though I've spotted some seedlings of Six Hills.
I also have a hot pink Cape Phygelius, might also be a coral/yellow one in the pot with it. When I was heading out the door in April, I frantically grabbed more plants and divisions.
Oh, Xenon Sedum, too. Probably would just give you a cutting as it will take off fast. How about Cuphea 'Tiny Mice' - cutting of that. Not sure about drought tolerance, however.
paws i might take the phygelius. they really don't like it here but i like them. and the sedum too. have to look chamisa up.
i want that chamisa too. i like that. what kind of soil does it live? i bet it likes it cool being in colorado though, y'think?
It's cold in winter (cold right at the moment, too, out here in the trailer...but the sun's coming), very hot and dry in the summer, though this summer is strange (cause I'm here). I'll look around and see what else there is around here for you.
Soil - pretty much anything, I suspect. It's alkaline and rocky here with clay. It's a native and coming into bloom now. I'll see about a photo when I'm out walking and collecting sage this morning. Most of it here is really short - maybe 'cause of deer, but I've seen it in some landscaping in town where it's gotten 4-6 feet tall. I really like it.
Not interested in Maximillian, eh? It's pretty incredible in the right place. Here it got 12' tall and so many, many blooms that made the most wonderful bouquets which lasted in the vase for at least 2 weeks. It didn't do well in Hoopa-too much rain in the fall when it was ready to bloom. It also didn't have enough sun for me there to stand up straight, but here...very nice.
Wish you had posted in the spring, before I left Hoopa.
well you can throw in some seeds of the sunflower if you got 'em.
I only have clumps of Maximillian. I won't be here long enough to collect seed, unless you want some of the wild sunflowers. I think they're pretty wonderful, too.
whatever you got will be fun.
I have the hearty hibiscus. White with red eye, dark burgundy, huge plum colored flower and pale pink, I would be willing to trade in the fall.
Judy
how big are your hibiscus judy? i am looking esp. for kopper king and plum crazy. sounds like you might have plum crazy. you think?
Yes I have plum crazy, it is huge. I now have a dark burgundy one, blooming, late bloomer here, it is almost as large as the plum crazy but the petals have more of a space between them. It has a completely different look. I had copper king, but it did not last with our last wet winter.
The soil here is composed of a lot of clay and shale and many plants do not make it through especially wet winters. Even with a lot of compost added to the soil...
Judy
well can you start some cuttings of the plum crazy? you ever done that? if you are good sending cuttings thru the mail i would take them. but i have gotten too many dried up cuttings for this to be my favorite way to trade. do you have turn of the century?
I will actually send you a part of my plant, I have a huge plant and have been able to cut it apart to start new plants.
I don't have turn of the century.
you mean a rooted plant? like....yeeeah! i certainly would like that. what can i trade you? i don;'t want to dig for several more weeks at least. has to cool off and rain. then i'm good to go.
Hi, I too am looking for daylilies and have several items available for trade. I have the Surprise Lilies, Oriental Tiger Lily seeds, a few Hostas... take a look at my have list and let me know if anything interests you. Thanks! Mechelle
Wow!! This thread has introduced me to some incredibly lovely plants that might even do well here in the hot humid temps and red clay!
Aren't God's plants wonderful!! What a paintbrush He has!!
