I seem to have a large population of these blue flowers "volunteering" in some of our beds. We bought this place recently, prior owner had many perennials that "pop up". Before we kill these, are they a weed or valued flower?

It is a very good native plant, Wild Petunia, Ruellia nudiflora, very hardy and drought resistant.
It is also a host plant for a few butterflies check this link all the way to the bottom;
