So, a couple weeks ago I was talking to my mom about some of my gardening plans, and today I got a birthday card in the mail from her, with a photocopy of an order form for around 200 bulbs... from Von Bourgondien. ::sigh::
I know about their terrible track record, but apparently she does not. I really, really hope this order doesn't go south, because she will be so disappointed, much more so than if she'd bought them for herself, and I'm sure dealing with their customer service will be even more difficult when the purchaser and recipient are different people. I'm taking heart in the fact that the order is *really* basic stuff (yellow daffodils, blue grape hyacinths, etc.), which they seem to be less likely to screw up. (Oh, and it includes the daylily "Destined To See", which I already know from other people's experiences is probably going to be "Wild Horses" instead.)
But it was a nice thought, Mom!
(I guess I need to get her on some better catalog mailing lists!)
Keep your fingers crossed for my bulbs, please!
I've never heard of this company and don't seem to see anything in WatchDog about them either...am I overlooking something??
I seems harder and harder to find reliable sources anymore... Good Luck Loligo!
Oops, spelled it wrong -- it's Van Bourgondien, not Von. And over half their WatchDog feedback is negative. :-(
That's sad!!! It's a shame a company won't UP thier standards to make things right.
