August blooms

Hedychium Pink V has started blooming. One of my faves.

So where is the V they are talking about?

I don't name them, kenboy I just grow them

I have heard they call it Pink V because somewhere in the flower it makes a V. Just wondering if you have seen it?

Actually I have never looked, LOL

The V has to do with the shape of the cane's actually, it had nothing to do with the flower itself.

Dan - that is one symmetrical bloom. Lovely color.

Donna - I can't believe your Dr. Moy is blooming already. Mines have never bloomed in the 5 years that I have had them. I transplanted a few to a sunnier spot and keeping my fingers crossed for at least one bloom this year.

Wild huh! I had received a section of this ginger from a friend of mine basically because it had "cool" foliage. Never new this is what it would grow to be!

They are def. beautiful specimens! I currently only have this and my Zingiber Zerumbet (Shampoo Ginger) but I would like to acquire some more gingers as well!

rob this is the first set of flowers in july they all dried up so i cut them back to the ground. there were already babies coming up around them so i am not sure if by cutting the older ones it gave them more energy or not.

This my noid ginger...last time I went to the beach I brought some kelp, and the gingers went crazy!

roberta/bward i can only imagine the smell. i never thought of kelp. a neighbor goes to starbucks and gets all their coffee grinds for free and puts them all over her gardenias and they are incredible.

I was focusing on the coleus, using the ginger as a background plant....it was taken Aug 27th in SF CA>
