Hedychium Pink V has started blooming. One of my faves.
August blooms
That is very pretty

So where is the V they are talking about?
I don't name them, kenboy I just grow them
I have heard they call it Pink V because somewhere in the flower it makes a V. Just wondering if you have seen it?
Actually I have never looked, LOL
The V has to do with the shape of the cane's actually, it had nothing to do with the flower itself.
received as Elizabeth but sure looks a lot like Gina's Pink V in the first post
Dan - that is one symmetrical bloom. Lovely color.
Donna - I can't believe your Dr. Moy is blooming already. Mines have never bloomed in the 5 years that I have had them. I transplanted a few to a sunnier spot and keeping my fingers crossed for at least one bloom this year.
Wild huh! I had received a section of this ginger from a friend of mine basically because it had "cool" foliage. Never new this is what it would grow to be!
does this really cool looking ginger have a name?
Darla
Hedychium coccineum. I love it!
Thanks I may have to see about getting some.
Darla
They are def. beautiful specimens! I currently only have this and my Zingiber Zerumbet (Shampoo Ginger) but I would like to acquire some more gingers as well!
WOW! Incredible pictures, everyone!
Candela, how do you treat your gingers to get a second set of flowers? That's awesome!
Oh, how lucky you are! : )
wow look at all that variegation
roberta/bward i can only imagine the smell. i never thought of kelp. a neighbor goes to starbucks and gets all their coffee grinds for free and puts them all over her gardenias and they are incredible.
No smell just beauty
Long way from home.
Candela, it didn't smell that bad, lol!
