CLOSED: RE: Qusetion about seed propagation

Marshalls Creek, PA(Zone 6b)

I am new to all of this and decided I would try and harvest seeds from some of my plants so that I would not have to go but the plants again in the spring.

Okay so here goes I think my 1st screw up. I spent a few hours collecting seed and I was so proud of myself then I left the plastic sandwich baggie on the table on my patio so they could air out, lol. I came bask to find the condensation was 10 times worse that if I left the alone. I quickly placed them in a paper bag thinking to myself what an idiot you put the seeds in a plastic bag.

Anyway are these seeds trash now or do you think they can be saved by what I did?

That may depend on the type of seed.
Most seeds are quite durable.
I have a tendency to use cheep paper envelopes, for the very reason you have just experienced.

i bet they are ok but why don't you post this over on the seed saving forum and ask some of the experts. my feeling is that as long as you dry them out and they don't start growing fungusy looking material then they are ok.

Give them a try. I find I would rather waiste my time than through out a potential nice new plant

Hey, don't feel bad. I've made pretty much every mistake in the book (including this one) it's how we learn. Try them & if they don't work, you know what NOT to do next time. Check out the seed prorogation forum. Lots of really smart & experienced people on there.
