Soft - Rotten Potatoes..what to do?

Eighty Four, PA(Zone 6a)

Well we started digging our potatoes!

Last year when we were digging, we noticed some were rotting in the ground, so we moved our garden this year, and now the same thing....any suggestions of what to spread/plow into the ground to help prevent this?

We did do soil test and added lime and fertilizer per the soil test instructions.

It's been more years than I care to remember since I grew potatoes - but I'm guessing that your growing conditions were too wet.

OR

The potatoes you "set" were not from disease-free stock.

Are you having problems with Late Blight in your area? If that is the case, you want to be sure to dig up ALL of the potato tubers so the fungus doesn't feed on the taters and overwinter for you.
