Last night about 1:00am I awoke to scrambling noises on the wood floor of the bedroom. Pete got up and then yelled "It's a mouse - a REAL one, not one of the toys." We have 5 cats, only one of which has ever, probably, seen a REAL mouse. The Burmese kitten went under the dresser (which only has about a 3 inch space to get under,) after the mouse, it ran back out and PIA, my rescue cat, grabbed it. Then Hope (GR. Ch.. Burmese) grabbed it and the race was on. They ran to the kitchen and let it loose so they could play with it. As I went after them with intentions of rescuing the poor thing, they lost it. From then until about 5:00am they prowled the house searching for this mouse. PIA got it and Pete managed to pry her mouth open and save the mouse and threw it outside. About an hour later she showed up with another mouse. Then Missy, the Burmese kitten, grabbed it by the tail and went running through the house. PIA got it back and Pete managed to get it from her. This one was dead. I'm sure there were more than 2 mice in the litter, (they were very small, grey, possibly Kangaroo mice), so I expect to see more mouse hunts. Meanwhile my 2 old Persian boys slept through the whole thing. At 20 years old, they couldn't care less. LOL This morning at breakfast, Pete, who tends to come up with malapropisms, said "Well, I guess now we know the mousers are good cats" (??????) When I went out to my van to go to the grocery store there was a very befuddled looking tiny mouse sitting on the sidewalk. I shooed him into the flower bed and wished him luck.
