Do any of you have a barrage of spider webs on everything?

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I have spider webs in all of my bushes and trees, and have for the past week or so. In the mornings it looks like Halloween decorations...LOL I have never seen so many spider webs! The spiders appear to be very small in the ones in the bushes and there are ten or more in each shrub....then in the trees there are huge ones (webs) that look like the stuff you use at halloween...Very strange.

I tried to take some pictures, but I am no sure they will show up well. I will download them in a few and see if you can actually see all of the spider webs.

I hope everyone is doing well these days.

Mike, I read about your health issues and hope you are feeling much better. Jim, I hope you and Bobby are doing well too...

Susan, did you plant tomatoes? I didn't get any planted this year at all. I miss watching them grow and having those sweet home grown tomatoes too!

I haven't been on here much this summer, except for a couple of forums, so I have missed a lot here it appears.

Hello to everyone!
I will try to keep up better, with my Georgia friends.

Take care!
Janet

Here's a picture, they are hard to photograph, but you can see there are so many of them!

Janet, that's a lot of webs in a small space. We've noticed webs in the woods around here, but not in the bushes around the house. I wonder if this is another indicator of a hard winter to come. Or maybe its just all the rain we've had this year. My yard is completely overgrown and I'm too lazy this year to do much about it. My tomatoes haven't done very well, but the peppers are going gang busters. Hope you are doing well. Becky

You probably are noticing more due to fog, dew, or rain which makes them stand out better. If they were dry you probably wouldn't even notice them.

I took a bunch of pictures of spider webs this past weekend at my parents' home in middle TN. The fog just happened to really "light up" the webs against the background.

Here's one I took a picture of while my wife held up a black backdrop to highlight the fog laden web.

Yes they do show up lots more when the dew/fog are upon them, no doubt. I just had them everywhere...and some really nice sized ones between tree branches...my grandchildren thought it was very cool! LOL

I am doing well, Becky, my gardens are in dire need of weeding and care as well...just too hot and humid for me right now.

The spiders are the good kind that help with bug control in the shrubs.I for one am glad to see them, walking through them is another story.
We have been missing you, and thanks for remembering us all. Mike

Girl,,, you have got to quit getting up so early (dew)....lol. I have seen quite a few of those little round yellow/black spiders. I hate it when I walk through those webs, but I remember that they are catching all these bad bugs. And it is amazing the webs they weave..

Well all I 've got to say about it is yuck! I hate walking into spiter webs and getting them all in my hair and face. That's just groce to me. LOL I know it's the good ones but I do wish they'd build them out in the yard and not around the deck where I need to be. LOL

Janet, I'm not sure if you were asking me about my tomatoes or not, but we actually had a nice crop this past year ... even if they are gone now. One of the best tomatoes is from the Northern Ga region called Lady Lucy and if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing a pic ... then I'll force myself to post it again. chuckle just for you. hahahaha

Susan, than is one beautiful tomato. I'll put Lady Lucy on my list for a future year.

Looks yummy! Spiders don't bother me as long as they are in the garden, outside. I don't care for them inside though..lol My grandchildren can't believe how many different types we have in the garden. They are just amazed that I don't want to KILL them all...their Dad is very fearful of spiders...lol We took this picture of a huge yellow and black Z spider that was next to his truck...sent it to his cell phone and told him we had found the perfect decal for the truck...lol He didn't think it was very funny though, when he opened it on his phone. Said it gave him the heebie jeebies...LOL

Black and yellow / writing spiders (Argiope aurantia) are great photo ops. I love seeing them each year around the yard.

I do too..they are my favorite to look for....the kids just love them. I have some giant ones, and some little ones too. The grandchildren tried to "feed" one last year, but the web had holes so large that the little insects they were trying to give it just passed right through...lol

They can catch some big insects too. Here is one with a Katydid.
