Some birds from Sweden

Dunlap, IL

This was my first international trip since I started watching birds more closely. I caught these shots in a 2 h walk around the area I'm staying, so they should all be common birds. I tried to setup in the woods a couple of times but the mosquitoes where too thick. Thanks to the bird ID forum for some of the IDs.

Black-headed Gull. The Swedish name (Skrattmås) actually translates as "laughing gull", but it isn't the bird known in English as Laughing Gull

Ooops! Tree Sparrow ;-)

Great pictures Chris! Thank you for sharing with me/others. What a wonderful trip! Hi Resin.

Incredible photos Chris! I loved the Blackbird's orange beak.

That Hooded Crow was interesting. Could you tell if it was a black or darker gray with the darker head?

Great shots of the Magpie and the Gulls too! The Pigeon was colorful too.

To me, that was a great way to spend two hours of your day-thanks!

Grey body, with black head, wings and tail. Compare here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wrona_Siwa.jpg

Here is the same crow before he took off.

Thanks for catching the other mistakes. It was a Swede who told me laughing gull and the sparrow was just a typo. Although they do have a large number of swallows or swifts constantly overhead in area.

Yep! A House Martin (which is a species of swallow; the names 'martin' and 'swallow' are more-or-less interchangeable).
