Question on getting Artobotrys hexapetalus to flower

Sarasota, FL

I have a 4-5 year old cl. ylang-ylang in a 5 gallon pot that absolutely refuses to flower! It's in full sun and maybe 7-8 ft tall/long.. I've had 2-10-10 bloom special on it and then even osmocote.
Is there a critical root mass necesssary for this to flower?
Same thing for a Saraca indica that's 9 ft tall in a 2 ft wide pot.

Mine took several years to flower, growing in the ground. It makes flowers high up on the plant where there is more sun.

Mine flowers all the time, but at a height if about 15 ft up where you can't enjoy the flowers like Metrosideros said. It took about 5 years to get a plant that was blooming size (mine is also in the ground) and now that it is I find I have to prune it every year because it gets so tall.

Gothqueen, yours is in a greenhouse in Gainesville?

Mine is in the ground, 5th year now, and has just set blooms for the very first time. I was told they need to be a certain age to bloom.

Yes it is in a greenhouse, but I have rooted some of the trimmings I have to take periodically and am going to trial it out this season to see if it comes back from the roots. I have had some success with other things that came back that should not have, LOL this one may also you never know. Even if it never bloomed outside it would be fun to have one outside.
