Gainesville, TX

looking for tons of larkspur seed

Büllingen, Belgium(Zone 6b)

Which species of Delphinium do you look for? Please use the botanical name, so I can be sure we are talking about the same.

well, she does have several varieties of Consolida ambigua along with Delphinium ajacis and Delphinium carolinianum subsp. vimineum on her want list... if thats any help. I just looked...lol

Gainesville, TX

Not the great delphenium of the cooler climates.

Any gentle self sowing larkspur I can use in my cottage gardens. I have naturalized areas and they do great, larkspur in the spring among the iris, salvias throughout the summer.........just can't get enough

Büllingen, Belgium(Zone 6b)

The only small Delphinium I have is Delphinium grandiflorum Delfix blue, it's a dwarf.
I will have fresh seeds in a few weeks.

That's interesting Jonna. I have never seen one like that.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

had that in my garden earlier this year jonna.. it was labeled 'Chinese Delphinium' in the garden center. Sadly, it couldnt hold up to the extreme heat and humidity here and finally died a few weeks back. but it put on a spectacular bloom before it did!

Gainesville, TX

Extreme heat and humid here too. Common larkspur blooms only early in spring.

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

My larkspur is still blooming , but I guess maybe in your heat it quits.
I havent started collecting the seeds yet but would be glad to send some your way.
I also have pink.

gardengus, that is a beautiful color!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

I like the color too. It looks purple in the garden but up close it has a lot of blue.
Photo below of the two colors together.

That looks so pretty! Serious zone envy going on - lol. Sometimes I miss the things I could grow where I grew up (northern Maine - Zome 4), but here we can grow pretty much year round. It's the summer heat that takes a toll on so many plants here. Larkspur are beautiful, but need a lot of babying where I'm at!

Gainesville, TX

gus....would love some seed, as much as you can spare, especially the pink, lemme know when your ready and I"ll send a sase

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

When is the best time to plant them there? I am just now collecting the seeds and will continue for a while.
No need for a sase just pass it on.

Gainesville, TX

early fall or very early spring

Hi Sharondippity,

I have several (as in a bunch) of Larkspur seeds that my MIL gave me a few months ago. She lives in DeSoto Texas so I am sure that these seeds will mature into plants that can handle the heat because they are off her current plants. Just let me know.

Thanks,
Amie

Gainesville, TX
