How do I root cuttings using sphagnum moss?

Chesapeake Beach, MD

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

It's simple. Use a well drained container. This will ensure that your sphagnum stays moist and not soaking wet. Dip the end of your cuttings into a suitable rooting hormone (I use powdered but a liquid rooting hormone treatment can work just as well). Place the cutting into the container deep enough to cover about 2 inches of the cutting but making sure not to touch the bottom of the container if it's shallow. Keep the container in a shaded location, but it can be outside (especially in the warmer months). It's that easy. After I started to do sphagnum rooting it quickly became my preferred method of rooting cuttings.

Good Luck!!
