Please Help Me Identify This Shed

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

I have this storage shed that was probably installed sometime in the late 70s, early 80s. Given a little rust here and there, I'd like to have the front doors repaired/replaced and a new floor laid. But, I don't know the original Manufacturer. It was sold in the Houston area and measures 10x13x7.4" tall. There's a black Eagle above the sliding barn doors. Each door has a double X on the bottom half. Plez help me identify the manufacturer or seller. Thanks! Linda

I'm gonna say it either from Sear's or Morgan.

Circa early 80s. We had two of them, sans the eagle. Storage is that way. Fill one up and add another, fill it up and build a bigger building and... I still say we need a roof over five acres. LOL

Linda in those days, I worked for a Monkey Wards catalogue store and I bought from them as well as the Sears catalogue store in town. I'm thinking Montgomery Ward but a brand? No idea! As I recently went thru old receipts, instructions and warranty papers, I can say I have no paperwork on these sheds, sorry.

Steph and Pod,
Thank you soooooooooooooo much for the leads! Pod, any vague idea what the shed ran? Meanwhile, I'm gonna google Sears.

I've been needing a storage shed for my gardening stuff, and ya'll know how tight my DH is with his yard space I'm growing on the fringe, remember, and NO space in the garage and, even though he just completed a 4 x 18' addition on the back of the garage for more storage, ask me how much of that 'Man Cave' I can use for my pots and supplies? I am sooooooooo tired of washing all my pots at the end of the season, storing them outside in the vacant dog pen, and coming back next season to pots full of spider webs, snails, and splashed with mud, and I have to start washing all over again.

Well, it occurred to me that I have that entire storage shed above at my other house! And, the tenants don't use it for anything (I gave up storage rights to my garage there when they signed the lease...)! I was there today, peeped inside, and DUH, it's a totally empty storage shed! The front doors are off the track and a bit bent, and the floor could stand to be entirely replaced. But, it doesn't leak at all. It's just a bit rusty here and there. It is huge inside, and I LOVE that 7'4" ceiling! No head butting!

I want to find the manufacturer to see if they refurbish these buildings. Or, if ya'll know of how I can get the doors repaired/replaced, please LMK.

Again, thanks a bunch!

Linda

In those days prices were cheaper because income was a lot less. Price depended on size. The small "single hole" outhouse size started at 99.99 graduating up to one this size was probably around 297.99.

You mentioned empty dog pen... Hmmmm... Not planning on a dog? Considered drying it in? Just a thought. That metal building might be hard to relocate. Old enough the screws won't come apart easily to dismantle and those buildings didn't have a sturdy enough foundation to pick up and move unless it has a good floor in it?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Other than the door its fine. Doesn't leak! 7.4ft head clearance too!

How are you going to move it?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Hey Pod!
I'm not gonna move it. I wanna repair it so I can use it where it is to store my gardening stuff in the off season.

I'm tired of washing pots at the end of the season all nice and clean, and then having to wash 'em all over again cause they've been outside in the elements! And having damp bags of fert ,and dolomite that's now mud. And not being able to find what I need when I want it!

I'm gonna do commuter storage!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL ... I've heard of a storage "pod" but commuter storage is a new one. There might be a service business in there somehow.

I have news for you, mine aren't exactly pristine after spending the winter in our shed, and our doors are in good shape. I think it's the fact that they are double doors with no threshold so we could drive the mower in and out. I dump the potting soil out and just put them up like that - wash them in the spring before I plant.

I know one gardener that stores his in his rain barrels year around. Presoaked with a dab of bleach in the water. Ready to go at a moments notice.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

I pulled some from a huge lawn leaf contractor bag, and they, too, were pristine. I'll be bagging them up and into the storage shed from here on out.

That rain barrel is a good idea, too, although not sure I want to soak them for that long in bleach. But, that might not be such a bad idea, either.
