This will probably be one of the first pics of Curcuma alismatifolia "Maejo Jasmine". It's hard to see the pink hue in photos but it's really sharp looking in person. Bright pearl white with a haze of light lavender throughout.
Curcuma alismatifolia "Maejo Jasmine" bloom new hybrid
I am currently working on crossing it with Curcuma flaviflora and also Curcuma "Emperor"
Cool..glad I am not doing that stuff..gets mind boggling trying to hybridize what ginger to what other ginger...LOL..just rather grow them up and say..aahhh what a pretty flower!!...lol
It took me years to get around to the breeding aspect but i'm hooked. The possibility of taking two Curcuma for example, one like "Candy Corn" that has basal blooms and one with a long stem like C alismatifolia has so many possibilities that I can't help but be fascinated. Tom Wood is coming for a visit to my house next week and I am really looking forward to catching up with him on his breeding projects. He is really the pioneer in breeding in my opinion. Dave and Tom's work with Gingers has been remarkable. Here is a photo of us together back in 03.
Cool..he suppose to be coming Aug 22 to Mercer Arb. Bot. Gardens doing a workshop in Houston as a speaker...I am hoping to go..$50 to get in ..lol..Linda Gay should be there too..what about you?
