I do realize that European cultivars is not that specific, but at least this place tells you what one of the parent plants is. Just thought I would share this with those of you that would like seed as someone here might like to try their luck with others seeds.

The versicolor x euro seeds are wonderful. The germination rate is excellent and the leaves on all the plants are very different. I'll post a picture of some of the leaves. I started some in March or April and some of the plants are 4-5 feet tall in pots, nicely branched, just waiting for flowers. Definitely worth trying.

Irish, how about posting valley grows website for us? Seeds are great for those just beginning to collect or those wishing to get a one of a kind Brugmansia.

Brugman, valleygrow.com i have a hybrid getting ready to open in a day or two that is definitely going to be a versicolor, can't wait!! will p;ost a pic for you.

Arlene,
Is that one of my hybrid seedlings by any chance? I have a few candida crosses that are opening up right now so I am excited as well. Some look like the standard candida and others look like aurea as they were crossed to another candida. I have a few others that are clearly versicolor looking from the calyx, but they are indeed Dr.Sues seedlings of mine. A few of my Frosty pink seedlings came out versicolor as well. Must be because I crossed them with versicolor ayy? My most prized cross I just harvested and I am so excited I am about to burst. This was my first seedpod on my Butterfly aurea crossed with Isabella. I had been watching the peduncle slowly change to yellow signaling that it was getting ready to ripen. These past 2 or 3 days I have kept a very close eye on that pod waiting for the pod itself to soften and start to turn yellow. I picked it just a bit ago and low and behold 32 seeds were to be found. Of course if I had of made that cross the other way using the butterfly as the pollen donor and the Isabella as the seedbearer I could have had a few hundred seeds instead of 32 with the same gene pool. I will be planting them on Sat and hopefully I will have them all up to blooming size by next summer.

Brugman, yes your hybrid. seeing the tendrils poke oout, won't be long. blooms on at least one other of yours, maybe two. i am hoping you will save me a cutting off one of those butterfly/isabella hybrids, one of the ones you name after one of your kids, don't forget me.
i have 3 seed pods on the first of your hybrids that bloomed for me it has 1000X more pollens than any of my other brugs. also have seed pods on 2 others, am thinking the pods will stay on an two more.... might end uup with some seeds myself!
will post a pic of the "versi" hybrid on first bloom.

Arlene,
I can guarantee that my Butterfly x Isabella hybrids will be exceptionall pollen donors and seed setters. Much better for seed production as well. As for saving you some cuttings from them...you know I am most partial to aurea hybrids in trades. I intend to set seedpods to all 32 of those seedlings first though. Crossing each of them to another aurea hybrid, but not the butterfly for the first cross. Thinking of the Whiskers right now or perhaps Culebra or all of the above and more. Maybe cross it to Butterfly x Aurea yellow? Please do post some pictures for me when you get the chance.
Has anyone seen the seedpods on Whiskers yet? Are they aurea like or is it more readily apparent they are an aurea cross with versicolor in them from the seedpod? What I am getting at is are the seedpods round on Whiskers?

Brugman,
to answer your above question....no. I have not had a Seed Pod on Whiskers. I received the seed that produced Whiskers from Vicki Harding then I used the pollen from Whiskers to get the other Aurea Hybrids...so I guess the Aurea Hybrids are Aurea Gold x Charles Grimnaldi xAurea Gold...correct. But I think the pod that formed on the Aurea gold from the pollen that came from Whiskers was a roundish pod....don't hold me to that cause you know how forgetful I am. LOL

Well, Glory...please tell me one of the aurea crosses you sent me was from that whiskers cross. If not, ohh bother as pooh would say. Glory, can't wait to see pictures of your other hybrids none the less. I can tell you that the seedpods that will form on my latest aurea cross next year will not be aurea seedpods, but one will be able to tell they have aurea in them. Its the next cross after that when the aurea seedpod should come back after being crossed to another aurea.

Brugman,
They all were Whiskers crosses..as a matter of fact I got all those different Aurea Hybrids from one seed pod. I had a new one bloom today and I can't figure out if it is differnt from the others or not.

Glory,
I have many that are very similar to another...often times one uses these to hybridize with and not to trade or sell as they are most valuable as a crossing plant...but sometimes one finds after some time of keeping a close eye on them that the calyx has some distinguishing feature that you have never seen on another brug hybrid or some other such thing. Sometimes the difference is simply that one is a better seed setter or pollen donor or flowers more times in the year or has more flowers...these hybrids I still consider as my lucky hybrids when dealing with Brugmansia and I use these to hybridize with personally if they have some trait that merits it, but not enough to release. Your Whiskers, now that is a very wonderful Brugmansia and one I would be so very proud to call my own. Just send me a pinch of your luck/secret and I will be happy. Pretty please??? Ahh, not to mention that as seedlings don't self seed...a brother or sister seedling can prove very valuable if they both show a trait that you wish to expound upon as these can be crossed to each other...
