Here is my second bargain & the picture on the tag does match the bloom so maybe it really is Amour. Doesn't bother me if y'all tell me different. (The day I don't learn something new is a wasted day!) Wish this plant was covered in blooms as I just love pink.
Judy
Amour....I hope!
Don't know this one but it sure is pretty, like the delicate soft pink tones it has, very relaxing to look at. Any true hib lover would love to have it.
Wilfred
Very nice Judy, I love the pink ones too! Great contrast around the edges of the indiv. petals.
This one said "Amour" on the tag & the picture matches this flower so think that may be right, even though I bought it with my "Painted Lady". Think this would make a good one to cross with something. Still learning so that's not going to happen soon. May can get a cutting rooted for you Wilfred. I'm learning about that too. Have always just poked them in a pot when something broke off but I'm reading everything y'all say & want to do it right. Thanks again for your input.
Judy
Hey Wilfred, wasn't it you talking about cutting at the 4th moon faze? Remind me when that happens & I will try a cutting of this one for you then.
Judy
Is there anyway we could do a sticky on propagation of these babies? Who has the knowledge & is willing to help do that. I'm sure admin would be ok with it. Please!!!
That right Judy, I'm planing to plant some cutting this 14 of august, its a quarter moon face that night and its a Friday, so according to what my cousin who took the course on this told me, that would be a perfect day to do it, sure doesn't hurt to try and find out how much truth is in this way of planting cutting, beside who knows if it works.
Wilfred
That's a great idea Debbie, hope some of to best propagators are willing to step in for the challenge in teaching the less experienced one, I would love to do it but I still don't consider myself an expert on hib propagation by cutting even dough I've done some myself, I prefer to leave it to the pros on this matter, I only have 2 years of experience with hibs, only done around a hundred with success, not like some of the master hib propagators who have done thousands of them.
Wilfred
Doesn't matter how many years Wilfred, you've been successful that's what I need. I can think of some others posting here that could help!
Going to mark my calendar for the 14th....Thanks Wilfred.
Judy
Oh, yes, I did find this plant on a site I don't think we are supposed to mention & it is Amour.
Lowe's can get some of them right!!!
Judy
Davis are you wanting to cross 2 plants & get seeds?
Judy
yes! can you help me? warning though....I haven't been able to get the first seed yet on any of my tropical blooms. thanks Judy.
Dmail me davis. I found some very helpful info that might help you. I'm trying it but just started yesterday so I'm not sure it will work but I am going to 'think positive' & have a feeling its going to work! How is that for a newbie with an attitude? We all have to start some where....right?
Judy
Hi Judy,
It is Amour. No question about it. Very pretty pic. I do believe it's origin was the hybridization program at LSU or one of the LA college's several years ago but I may be wrong.
Robert
Thanks, Robert. After seeing your blooms I feel like you really know what you are talking about & I value your input. Hope you get time to enjoy yours more soon.
Judy
Trickiwoo, if you are enamored with Robert's blooms, you should know that he was the vendor of the HypnoticBlooms co-op that just wrapped up. We are hoping he will have another one in the Feb/Mar timeframe if all works out. Start saving your pennies now :-)
dee
Thanks for that info, Dee. I've been reading about co-ops on the old threads & thinking...too late for me. Be watching for the new ones.
Judy
