HELLO Clare! So good to see you back. Is this growing in a beautiful new yard of yours?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Kell! How are you? I hope doing well.

Thanks for the welcome back;-)

I grew this vine from seed at my last place. I sowed about 30 seeds from a variegated seedpod, and only this one end up being variegated. When I moved, I had to leave it behind, but I just bought six one-gallons from Home Depot, and put them in at my new place to replace the ugly ivy that was there.

I like this vine because it is messy or difficult to maintain.

Speaking of variegated, I was just thinking of you. Remember how we wanted a variegated banana? I had no place to plant one before, but I think I'm going to find a place for one here at the new place. Do you know where I can get one?

So sad you had to give up your seed grown one.

Oh dear, I will have to be so jealous of you if you get that var. banana. AE AE! I just love it.

I bought 2 from Hawaii about 3 years ago. I paid aoubt $100 each. I gave one to Susie, Calalily and kept the other. Both died very quickly! So I am not one to ask. LOL

Mel had gotten one that was sold in grocery store in Hawaii. Hers grew in Tennessee to be huge. It was a plant of beauty. And she overwintered it on its side in her GH. It got too big and she gave it away last year I believe. She had pups and had promised me one but they died when cut off. Woe was poor me.

Do you know anyone in Hawaii who will send you one?

I found Mel's picture. Oh to have such a sight in my own backyard!

That's such a beauty. I am eyeing this auction, but I am a little nervous about purchasing since it looks like he only signed up to be a member to sell these: http://davesgarden.com/products/market/view/7571/ I don't know if he is a business or just a private seller. I'm a bit leary sending off $100.00 to a virtually unknown seller.

Oh I would be too. Great way to scam. Are there any safe guards built into Marketplace?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

I don't know. That's a good question. He's got no feedback to go by. I would feel better about it if it were a longtime member. I looked up Natural Selections, but I don't think they are in business anymore. I may just wait and see if I can find it cheaper. I really can't afford to pay $100 for a plant, much less a fussy one.

Lets move to Broward and Miami Dade County ASAP! LOL

He sounds like a great gardener. Email him, you live in a great place for AeAes!

Hi Kell! I emailed him, but he's probably not willing to ship so I broke down and bought from the Marketplace. I promise you that you will have my first pup if and when I ever get pups and provided, of course, that I can keep the thing alive! Wish me luck. I heard from Don (the seller) this morning, and he said that they need shade. Well, I have almost no shade here so that's a problem. I may have to manufacture some shade! LOL!

That is so exciting. I will sure be hoping for the best for you. I can't wait to see a beautiful variegated umbrella over your yard! When you get it, I want to see a picture, please.

And you are too kind to think of me with a pup!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Kell! I'll definitely post pictures when I get it. When I get pups, I'll email you and tell you that you have to come visit me to get your pup! LOL!

LOL!

By then your new yard will be so much further along. I just love your new house. I so need a new house!
