I am aware of a lengthy fertilizer recipe on this site--------------but, I just don't think that I can deal with getting it all together. Will high middle number blooming fertilizer in a gallon of water poured on the plant help in producing blooms?
Thank you,

Fertilizing brugs
it surely will... and even spraying/pouring plain water over them regularly would also help.. they would tr and make flowers all on their own... but we're just looking for more faster .. longer... bigger ... stronger.. so what else is new there..
Shirley, there was another thread on here that talked about a build up of phosporus (the second number) in the top couple inches of the soil making it unavailable to the roots. If you use a high second number fertilizer all the time, the phosphorus is "wasted" after a while. You might have better results alternating your "bloom boosting" fertilizer with something like MiracleGro, that way your plants get a full spectrum of nutrients with less waste.
yes...very true moon..and to start it too early isn't real good either .. it compromizes plant development.. and ....causes yellow leaves on an other wise healthy plant..
Absolutely, Gordon. I usually use a bloom booster when I start to see buds, and from then on only every second or third time I fertilize.I tend to lean toward a "balanced" application (10-10-10) or a slightly higher nitrogen number while they are putting on growth. I also water anything that needs it before I fertilize, so the plant actually gets the nutrients rather than it running off dry soil.
Thank you both for your wonderful advice. I will proceed tomorrow with the Bloom Booster--------as I had not been using it----just a same number one.
Strangely, this spring as soon as I planted the ones that I had rooted in water over the winter (all from above the Y)----one of them promptly put on 7 buds and 5 of them developed into blooms! But, so far, none of the others have done so. Of course, our June was unbelievably hot and dry. So far, July has been unusually cool and even a little wet! So strange for Mississippi.
Again, thanks,

Great thread and great info...Thank you
