This was taken yesterday on an island in the Banana River (actually an estuary) in Brevard County, Florida. I think that this is either a juvenile black crown night heron or a juvenile american bittern. I don't think the heron's beak would be this long but I don't think that the bittern would be on an island in the river (maybe it isn't either).
