Hi--is it possible to raise chickens and guinea fowl together? We would only do hens. We are primarily getting them for tick/bug control. I had chickens growing up so I am familiar with those, but not familiar with guineas. Can they share the same coop? Do guineas roost? I know there's a raising guineas book out there that I want to pick up, but we are looking to get started asap and would love any thoughts on how well the chickens and guineas would do together. Thanks!
Raising chickens and guinea fowl together
Hi, Niere.
I don't keep guineas--but a lot of people with chickens do and have discussed it on this forum. From what I remember, the guineas were hard to train to return to the coop to roost, but it can be done. Every once in a while you could get a guinea/chicken hybrid (not that you would with all hens) and I think they got along okay--but remained very separate.
Anyone out there have both?
