We are getting ready to plant a banana tree, I am soooo excited! I just love an edible landscape. I am thinking Grand Nain or Dwarf Cavendish for their compact size. It will live in a large pot on our sunny patio. I'll take pictures as soon as it's in place. I'd appreciate any of your thoughts.
Going Bananas in Seabrook (9b)!
A friend of mine has banana trees growing around the pool at her Houston home. I don't know the variety but it is very hardy and will reproduce new plants each year. A couple of times they actually produced fruit and those were the best bananas I have ever eaten. I wish I could grow them here but it gets too cold.
Enjoy your banana tree.
