Ken, Is this by chance the ginger I gave you & Maggie? Several came up in my White Butterfly Ginger garden blooming for the first time late last year. It's no telling how many of these I gave out as "White Butterfly". I don't have a clue where I got this hedy ginger from or it's ID. It looks similar to a couple I've googled.
Dollie, I do not remember you giving us a Ginger but then again I am so forgetful I could hide my own Easter eggs. It was marked as a white so who knows. I really do love the color, so rich.

It was a nice suprise to see these pretty blooms in my garden when I thought all were the Butterfly ginger.

Since looking at the third picture which has more pink to it, it resembles Hedychium 'Elizabeth'

The color looks like 'Elizabeth' but the form of the inflo. does look more like Hedychium Coccineum. There is five different forms of Hedychium Coccineum and even some disagreement among the people who know. I get lost pretty easy but the more debate the more I learn, thanks.
Ken, I have never found it easy to identify by picture, it is too easy to miss nuances of a plant that distinguishes it from a sister or cousin plant. But i have discovered it is more beneficial to my continuing education to put a suggestion out there and through discussion of the fine points, followed with more complete photos of plant and flower, especially discussion with the person closest to the plant, it is more likely to gain a true identity for the plant in question.....and I add a little more knowledge to knowing who is living in my garden.

Hedychium coccineum, Orange Bottlebrush Ginger Lily.
I have noticed at times the bloom on mine to be darker and or more intense than other.
Possibly soil nutrients or lack along with sun differences can explain some color variations.

A lot of factors, including lighting when you take the picture can affect the coloration.
All three pictures are of the same plant. The third picture was a week after the first two.
which could explain the greater color intensity.
