I went to Lowe's yesterday to get some epoxy putty to fix a small leak above my hot water heater. I always have to go thru the nursery *Sheepish Grin* I found a gallon size hibiscus with beautiful pink flowers. I went to the closed check out and told the lady I was setting it there because I needed to run in the store. As I did I spotted 2 against the fence right buy the registers. I recognized them. I ask if they were spoken for and the girl said no.
I went inside and got what I needed and came back out grabbed my pink hibiscus and got in line. I ask the checker if the were being held for someone and she said they had been sitting there for weeks. The one plant has a little wind burn but not much and the other looks fine. They are about 3 ft tall. She looked at then and said they are not blooming. she rang up the rest of my few things and again said they are not blooming how about 2 dollars each. I said I will take them.
They are in one gallon pots and Should I tell you what they are or make the suspense last longer? mmmmm well ok They are Mallow hibiscus. I could not believe my luck if I would have paid 6.98 each as all the others they had were 3 gallon+ for 20 dollars. Considering I always look to see if there are any one gallons mixed in and there was not. And then for her to say 2.00 I thought I would pass out.
The tag says assorted colors so no idea which they are but I don't care. Their trunks are really thick.
Does anyone know if you can root cuttings? When they get larger I will share if they can be rooted.
Hope you all find a great deal everywhere you go.
Blessings,
Sandy
Guess what I got in one gallon pots for 2 dollars
Sandy, so glad you posted this, Lowes is my favorite bargain plant store...time for another visit methinks!
The picture on the tag shows all of them. So it could be any one.
I forgot to add they have a beautiful white hibiscus with a blood red center. It is snow white and the red is really dark. No blooms open or I would show you. They are in the gallon size reg 6,98 for 5.98. And in the other section pots about a pint I got a peach sport for 2.98. It is a small peach flower with a a ball of petals sticking out on the end of the stamen.
Also Walmart in Baytown has quite a few of the peach sport. I was surprised to see so many of them out. They are not easy to find.
davis1676 Thanks it is my most favorite mark down plant store. Go get to Lowe's maybe some good deals. :o)
jlj072174 Thanks I am so proud of finding them. That one you have is beautiful. really red. Can they live in the pond or will they eventually rot?
Thanks.
