I have a homemade bamboo arbor my husband and I put together yesterday across a corner of our ugly chain link fence. It isn't fancy, but I like it. Now I'm looking for a nice, full-sun loving flowering vine I can put out there to grow up/on it. I know a lot of items say they can take "full sun", but full sun in Raleigh, NC is not the same as "full sun" in other places due to the extreme heat/humidity we get. So I thought I'd pop in here to see what you all might recommend. If you have pictures of your recommendation, please share those as well.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Full Sun Flowering Vine Recommendations?
You are right, full sun here is not like full sun anywhere else.
I don't have any ideas but have you visited any public gardens like the JC Raulston at NC State? You can get lots of ideas by seeing what others in your neck of the woods have had success with. Seeing the plants in person always helps me picture them in my own garden.
I haven't been there yet, but I plan to go to another local nursery later today, as I just got a nice gift card to it for my birthday (best present ever! LOL). I plan to see what they have, but thought I'd poke around here and see if anyone is growing something in similar conditions that might appeal to me.
I know it might be a bit hard to get them established this late in the season, but can keep things in mind for next year, if needed.
That is too cool; I love it.
Have fun with that gift certificate. You might consider waiting until late August or early fall for planting anything.
Thanks much! I forgot to mention, that ivy growing behind it is a wild morning glory type plant. It has flowers too, but when we constructed the arbor, we had to cut through it because of it growing over from my neighbor's fence.
I have passion flower, morning glory and snail vine on an arbor in full, blazing hot sun. The only thing is you have to water twice a day.

I have some passionflower that I brought back from my mom's yard in Delaware. Still working on getting them rooted right now, as we just got back less than a week ago. I'm hoping it takes (then takes off!).
I did pick up yesterday a climbing hydrangea to try out there, but have concerns over conflicting information I received from the nursery (they said it can go full-sun) vs. what I've read on here from others who grow it (who say it's in a part-sun environment).
The area I posted the picture of gets full sun all day until about 6:30 p.m., so it has to be a true full-sun plant -- whatever it is that ends up there.
