I was birdwatching my feeders from my garage when a great beating of wings got my attention. I thought to myself, "Man, that is one BIG bird". I was hoping for a hawk or an eagle, but when the landing was over this big bird was across the street, sitting on a pine limb.
I looked in my book and I think I got me a Great Blue Heron. Am I right?

Yep; a young one from this year (which is why the head pattern isn't very strong)
